Call for Papers
VOLUME XVIII - Transnationalism. Being Human and Brave New Little World

THIS CALL FOR PAPERS IS NOW OPEN

Call for Submissions!

The call for this year’s Trinity Postgraduate Review (XVIII) is now open. Applicants are invited to submit a 200 word abstract relating to one of the three below themes;

1.) Transnationalism:

Transnational entities are an imposing feature of the modern world, dominating its political, economic and cultural undercurrents. This theme invites applicants to discuss this concept from a variety of angles, from medieval empires to the future of trading blocs.

2.) Being Human:

What does it mean to be human? Is it simply a biological phenomena or something more? What has it meant to be human in different societies? What will it mean to be human with the rise of artificial intelligence? This theme invites applicants to delve into the thorny question of what being human is, has meant and will mean.

3.) Brave New Little World:

Our understanding of the world is becoming much greater whilst paradoxically becoming smaller. New ideas and new technologies have radically altered how we perceive the universe. This theme invites applicants to discuss how research in the different fields of science and technology has changed, and how it has forced us to think smaller.
Submissions are accepted from all disciplines with abstracts especially welcome from a past, present or future perspective.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 18th January.

Applicant must submit two documents, one with their name, course of study and contact details, the other with the abstract. The abstract must not contain the applicant’s name. Any that do will be invalid and not subject to review.
Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 25th January.

A first draft of the article (c.5000 words) will be due Sunday 10th March 6pm. This will be returned in early April, with the final draft due by Friday 26th April 6pm.

In a new development, for this year, all successful applicants will be invited to give a paper on their topic in this year’s Postgraduate Research Week (25th-29th March).

All successful applicants, subject to their articles being of a sufficiently high quality, will be published in this year’s Trinity Postgraduate Review, with the launch expected to take place on Monday 27th May 2019.
